2. Information Collection and Local Storage

Liquid New Tab is designed with a Privacy-First architecture. Most information provided by the user is stored locally on the user's device via the chrome.storage.local API.

The following types of data are processed locally:

• Location Data: User-specified city names for fetching real-time weather forecasts via the Open-Meteo API.
• Authentication Information: API keys for AI services (e.g., OpenAI, Gemini) to enable integrated dashboard functionalities.
• User Activity: Custom nicknames, profile photo URLs, and a curated list of quick-access shortcut links.
• Website Content: Temporary processing of response headers via declarativeNetRequest to allow secure iframe embedding of AI interfaces.

3. Third-Party Payment Processing

For users who choose to upgrade to Pro versions or purchase AI Credits, we use Paddle as our third-party payment processor and Merchant of Record.

When you make a purchase, Paddle collects certain personal data, including your email address, country, and zip code, to process the payment and comply with tax regulations. Paddle handles all customer service inquiries and returns related to payments. We do not store or have access to your full credit card or payment information.

4. Use of Permissions

To fulfill its purpose as a minimalist and fluid start page, Liquid New Tab requires specific Chrome permissions:

• storage: To persist user preferences and settings.
• declarativeNetRequest: To manage cross-origin headers for embedded AI services.

We strictly adhere to the Google Chrome Web Store Developer Program Policies.

• No Sale of Data: We do not sell user data to third parties.
• No Tracking: We do not use user data for tracking, advertising, or creditworthiness assessments.
• Security: All locally stored data is protected by the browser's sandbox environment.
